Free Compression-Only CPR Training Hosted By St. Elizabeth's

Free Compression-Only CPR Training Hosted By St. Elizabeth's

Belleville, IL – On May 22, local EMS provider Abbott EMS, an American Medical Response (AMR) company will provide free training to local residents and teach them to save lives through compression-only CPR. The event is part of Abbott EMS’s nationwide observance of National Emergency Medical Services Week with events being held in 40 states.

The free training will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Southern Illinois Heart Institute Building, 180 W. Lincoln Street, on St. Elizabeth’s Belleville campus. Abbott EMS employees are providing the training to the community and employees of the hospital.

Compression-only CPR allows bystanders to keep life-saving blood flowing through a victim’s body just by pressing on the chest in a hard, fast rhythm. Bystanders who provide compression-only CPR can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chances of survival.

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital proudly supports all of the area emergency medical services teams and thanks them for their dedication to providing front line, life-saving services to our communities.
