Financial Assistance Plans

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville is well aware of the cost of education. For that reason, we have established a number of programs for prospective as well as current healthcare students. St. Elizabeth’s Hospital offers educational assistance and scholarships from a couple of different sources.

  1. St. Elizabeth’s Auxiliary Scholarship

Application process: Send a letter to the Volunteer Office, stating your healthcare career objectives, which school you will be or are currently attending, and request an application packet. All applications must be filed by June 1. Scholarships are awarded in June.

  2. St. Elizabeth’s Medical Staff Scholarship

Application process: Send a letter to Freda Zimmerman, in the Pastoral Care Office, requesting an application. Application deadline is June 1.

  3. St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Student Loans (no payback if you join our St. Elizabeths’ family!)

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital awards a number of loans to students who are currently in or beginning their studies in a field of study in which the hospital is experiencing a shortage of staff. The loans range from $1,500 to $3,000. There is a work payback attached to each loan. For each loan the recipient must agree to work a minimum of one year immediately following graduation. Terms of the loan are stipulated in the contract which the recipient must sign. Loans are awarded only to students who are within two years or less of graduation. A loan application is attached to this pamphlet for your convenience or call Freda Zimmerman, in the Pastoral Care Office, at 618-234-2120 ext. 1335 to request an additional application. Application deadline is June 1.
