We're part of the Community

and the Community is part of us.

HSHS St. Elizabeth’s is committed to all communities in our region. We follow advances in health care so we can deliver the highest-quality care. We research best practices and continually look for ways to be efficient and effective. We partner with other organizations such as county health departments to develop prevention and early intervention programs. We participate in community events, organize annual food and clothing drives, offer free screenings at health fairs and offer community education opportunities. We also listen to what you want.

Comprehensive health care that’s easily accessible

  • Research shows that patients heal more quickly when they can remain close to home. So, locating our hospital in the rapidly growing medical district along I-64 will provide convenience and benefits to both patients and doctors, allowing patients to stay in Illinois while receiving high-quality health care.
  • The new hospital will be easily accessible from major highways and serve as the only full-service hospital along the Illinois I-64 "medical mile." It also will provide a direct route from communities such as Carlyle, Centreville, Collinsville, East St. Louis, Lebanon, Mascoutah and Scott Air Force Base.
  • In addition to all of the services offered at Belleville today, the new hospital campus will include a medical office building attached to the hospital that will be the focal point for outpatient care to better serve the increasing demand for outpatient services.

Private Rooms, Advanced Technology

St. Elizabeth’s replacement facility will incorporate many of the recent advances in hospital design, including private rooms with technological features that focus on patient care, safety and comfort. The improved technological infrastructure will be capable of supporting many technological advances to enhance patient care in several ways:
  • Electronic health records available in patient rooms
  • High resolution video feeds to assist with imaging, surgery procedures and telemedicine services
  • Nurse call system that uses smartphone technology
  • Telemetry monitoring systems that send alerts when a patient’s condition changes
  • Ability for Medical Staff to monitor patients throughout the facility
  • Improved workflow, allowing for greater efficiency and timeliness, utilizing Lean processes
